Prof. Zaiyi Liao, Ryerson University, Canada
Dr. Zaiyi Liao is a tenured professor at Department of Architectural Science, Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Tsinghua University in 1988 and 1990 respectively. After he had practised in the industry in China (including Hong Kong) as a senior engineer, he returned university for PhD study. He earned a PhD from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2001 and PhD from the University of Oxford, the UK in 2004. He has participated and managed more than 40 major research projects, with funding from the European Union, a broad range of governmental funding agencies in the UK, Canada’s NSERC and many other funding agencies, and industrial partners. He has published more than 100 papers in international conferences and scientific journals. His current research is focused on building energy conservation, fire safety of the built environment, computational modeling of building performance, intelligent building control, water source management, green building materials , and indoor air quality.
